Macintosh LC 520
================
Copyright 1993, Apple Computer, Inc.
The Apple Macintosh LC 520 computer combines the simplicity and convenience of
an all-in-one design with the versatility of an integrated CD-ROM drive and
high-quality stereo sound. With a powerful 68030 microprocessor, a brilliant
14-inch Trinitron color display, and sophisticated built-in media features, the
Macintosh LC 520 lets you make the most of multimedia applications as well as
personal programs—all at an affordable price.
The Macintosh LC 520 comes with everything you need built into a single unit.
In addition to the standard 1.44-megabyte SuperDrive floppy disk, the Macintosh
LC 520 is equipped with a double-speed CD-ROM drive. High-quality stereo sound
is provided by front-mounted speakers and a microphone is integrated into the
unit to allow you to add sound to many Macintosh applications. And the built-in
14-inch Trinitron color display delivers unmatched 16-bit image resolution and
clarity in thousands of colors.
With a 68030 microprocessor running at 25 megahertz, the Macintosh LC 520 is
twice as fast as the Macintosh LC II. It can support up to 36 megabytes of RAM,
so you can work with multiple applications simultaneously, choosing from more
than 6,000 Macintosh applications.
Your internal hard drive options include 80- and 160-MB hard disks, so you’ll
have plenty of storage space. For graphics-intensive applications, you can add
an optional math coprocessor. AppleTalk networking is built in, so there’s no
need to buy additional hardware if you want to access printers, send electronic
mail, or share files with others.
Multiple ports allow you to expand the Macintosh LC 520 with peripheral devices
such as scanners and modems. An LC processor-direct slot assures fast access to
high-speed expansion cards if you need additional capabilities such as video
output or Ethernet networking. And with the addition of the Apple IIe Card, you
can run virtually all applications developed for Apple IIe systems.
